The 2-Stage Symposium:
A celebration of Don Engelman's career and of 45 years of the Engelman lab

Don turned 75 this year. The alumni are organizing a reunion to celebrate this milestone and to share their stories (scientific and not) over the four decades of history of the lab.

The event will occur in New Haven on June 11, 2016. It will include talks, posters, meals and lots of interactions.

About Don

Don is the Eugene Higgins Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale. He obtained his PhD at Yale in 1967 and was a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF and the University of London. He joined the faculty of MB&B in 1971.

Don is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences. At Yale has served as Chair of MB&B, Chair of Biological Sciences Advisory Committee, and Acting Dean of Yale College (by the way, he is a wine connoisseur and he is very strong).

Don has supervised around 100 graduate students and postdocs in his career. Alumni of the lab have found success in academia, industry and other careers. Approximately a quarter of them hold a faculty position at Universities in the US and abroad.

Don's chairman-like appearance can be deceiving. Here Don demonstrates that he could be a credible heavy metal band member (Don was born in Hollywood after all).
